Pirates Of The Carribean: On Stranger Tides Movie Clips

Recently I watched "Pirates Of The Carribean: On Stranger Tides" and I heard the movie was pretty good. Although I enjoyed the movie overall, I was kind of dissapointed. The movie didnt really revolve around mermaids as much as I expected, and I thought they couldve added more mermaid scenes. I did think the mermaids were extremley gorgeous though, so here are some cool clips I found! Enjoy!

Fishtale The Movie

Movie Rating: PG (some crude jokes and mild language)
Run Time: 1 hour 27 minutes

Summary(amazon.com):
When Thomas takes a trip to Greece with his daughter, he expects a relaxed holiday from his troubles back home. Instead, things get complicated when he falls in love with a beautiful mermaid and battles an evil sea captain's plot to bring in the ultimate catch. Hailed by audiences as the great comedy catch of the year, Fishtales is a fun, quirky story the whole family can enjoy!

My Review:

A beautiful mermaid, a gorgeous island... a horrible plot line and even worse acting. Unfortunately, this is all you will get in return for watching "Fishtale". Although the movie starts off seemingly interesting, with a beautiful mermaid named Nereid swimming into the frame and an adventure to Greece, this movie didn't hold my attention. What really annoyed me was the plot line does not even really mention the beautiful mermaid until the middle to the end of the movie. In addition, I found some pretty bad plot faults. For example, when Sirena first sees the mermaid, there is no hint of shock or surprise. Instead, her mindset seems to be, "Oh cool a mermaid! Let me go swim with her!" During the swimming scenes, almost all the fish are computer animated and the effects are horrible; they look like one of those fish screen saver programs!
    There was also a few random scenes in this movie that weren't necessary, such as a bride at her own wedding gets caught on fire because of a firework accident, a chicken gets its head whacked off ( it was not showed, but implied) and lastly, a weird transvestite who owns a gift shop snorts like a pig while talking... seriously? What were they thinking? There was also a character that really disturbed me and I couldn't believe he was allowed into this children's movie. In Amazon's summary, he is mentioned as a "Sea Captain" however, he seems like a white trash pirate! Hes extremely lewd and inappropriate in many scenes of the movie, which includes him watching women bathe in a cove and making lewd remarks, and at one point, pulled an object out of his rear end and smelled it... Yeah, real nice. In addition, the "love" in this movie was extremely shallow, and they only fell in love with each other after being put under a spell. Although I hated this plot, the only element that caught my attention was the beautiful mermaid who was smart, bright and charming. I was very disappointed with this movie, especially since the mermaid is so beautiful. I give this movie (*-**) 1-2 stars.

She Creature The Movie

Run Time: 91 minutes
Rated R: warning! This has a lot of sexual scenes and gore! Do not watch if you are sensitive to either one!

Summary(amazon.com):
This surprisingly satisfying horror movie centers on a mermaid--but it's hardly one of the giggly types from Peter Pan. Rufus Sewell and Carla Gugino play a couple of small-time circus people who discover that an eccentric old man keeps a genuine mermaid in a water-filled tank. Dreaming of an invitation from Ringling Bros., Sewell steals the mermaid and loads her on a ship for America. But in the middle of the Atlantic, the hungry mermaid shows her darker side--and Gugino learns that she may be linked to the mermaid in unexpected ways. She Creature was no doubt made on a low budget, but it looks excellent and the above-average script gives the strong cast firm ground to stand on. The mermaid herself (Rya Kihlsted) is both lovely and eerie. All in all, an enjoyable homage to classic horror films. --Bret Fetzer

Ugh! Talk about ugly!
This is a figurine from the movie
of the mermaid!
My Review:
I have to say, when I first picked this DVD up from the library, I was a bit blown away at how sinister the movie sounded, and looked! But I do admit, it made for an interesting movie! Although it was one of those B-rated horror movies, the special effects were actually phenomenal! The mermaid's tail was incredible! The acting too, was quite good. The mermaid, played by Rya Kihlsted put on a really amazing performance. I mean, she just oozed evil! The only complaint I do have about this movie is that like most horror movies made now, there is a bit of sex that goes on. There actually is a sex scene in the movie, and the mermaids breasts are exposed in almost every scene that she is in. In addition, there is obviously gore, so if you don't feel comfortable with either theme, then this movie isn't for you. However, for a b-rated horror movie that included a mermaid, I think it was a pretty interesting concept. I give this movie (****) 4 stars.

Lady In The Water Movie

Year Released: 2006Rated: PG-13 (some scary scenes not suitable for small children)
Run Time: 1 hour and 50 minutes

Summary(imdb.com)
Apartment building superintendent Cleveland Heep rescues what he thinks is a young woman from the pool he maintains. When he discovers that she is actually a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make the journey back to her home, he works with his tenants to protect his new friend from the creatures that are determined to keep her in our world.

My Review:
"Lady In The Water" is a beautiful story, full of fantasy that inspires hope. M. Night Shyamalan created this movie around the idea that everyone and everything has a purpose in this life as well as the traditional concept of good vs. evil. I really believe that Story, the narf that the story is focused on, is simply an inspiring character, full of traits such as bravery, courage and wisdom that viewers will love. The only comment I have on this movie is the first time that I watched it, I was a bit confused with the storyline. It is one of those movies that you definitely have to pay attention to, and listen and follow the story or else you will be lost. I also strongly suggest that parents watch the movie first before deciding whether or not it will be suitable for your child. There were definitely parts that were a bit scary. I truly love this movie though, and I give it (*****) 5 stars.

Night Tide movie

Night TideReleased: 1963
NR (not scary or sexual)
Run Time: 84 minutes

Summary(IMDB.com):
On leave in a shore side town, Johnny becomes interested in a young dark haired woman. They meet and he learns that she plays a mermaid in the local carnival. After strange occurrences, Johnny begins to believe that she may actually be a real mermaid that habitually kills during the cycle of the full moon.

My Review:
Confusing plot, horrible themes and a cheesy love story with very odd characters... this is what awaits you if you decide to watch "Night Tide". I was very disappointed with this movie, especially after I read what the movie was about. It seemed interesting to finally find a movie with a scary mermaid. However, the movie opens up with Johnny, the lead male role, almost instantly falling in love with Mora, the lead female role, and then follows with a strange plot line that I had to keep rewinding because I could not follow it. As for the scary effect, there really wasn't anything in the movie that was creepy or scary. The ending had to be the worst part of it all. The viewer is left with so many unanswered questions and it was frustrating! Sorry merfolk, don't bother picking this movie up. I give it (*) 1 star.

Miranda Movie

Release Date: 1948
Rating: NR (totally clean movie! Just some fun flirtiness but nothing sexual)
Run Time: 80 minutes

Summary(IMDB.com):
A young married physician discovers a mermaid, and gives into her request to be taken to see London. Comedy and romantic entanglements ensue soon after.

                                                                  My Review:
I had first heard of this movie while searching for "Mr. Peabody and The Mermaid" which is one of my favorites! Both of the movies came out around the same time, so I figured I would like it. I thought overall this movie was pretty charming, and had some moments when I was laughing. Miranda is a real flirt and can have any man swooning as soon as they see her, but its just her mermaid nature. I also thought the tail was quite real looking and was stunning! Here are some pictures:
 Her tail is amazing! I don't even know where her legs are! Miranda is definitely a mermaid character that leaves an impression. The only complaint I have is that she does remind me more of a human than a mermaid. Overall, I give this movie (****) 4 stars.

Mermaids The Body Found: Part II The Evidence

Description: This is part II of the "mock-umentary" Mermaids: The Body Found. To see my review of the first part, check it out here
My Review: First, I would like to discuss what a "mock-umentary" is. This term refers to a documentary that has possible theories, but the actual storyline and people are fictional. In "Mermaids" the theories that were used, such as the aquatic ape theory and the bloop recording are theories that are still being explored, but the scientists were just characters who were part of a storyline. However, I still loved this film and I thought it was created with beautiful effects and left the viewer with a more open mind as to what is in the ocean. I still think Animal Planet should make this a DVD. Tonight, "Mermaids: The New Evidence" was presented a year after its first part was released. I was very excited to watch this. I must say though, I was very disappointed with the way this came out. I was expecting them to put a real scientist on the spot, and not the same actor so we can get some real possibilities and theories. All they kept showing was footage of the CGI merfolk. To be quite honest it started to get annoying. I don't recommend watching this second part, and actually give it only (**) 2 stars. However, please watch the original documentary. It was awesome!

Mr. Peabody and The Mermaid

Rating: NR (not rated)
* dont worry guys! This movie is very clean! *

Run Time: 89 min.
Released: 1948

Summary(imdb.com):
As told to a psychiatrist: Mr. Peabody, middle-aged Bostonian on vacation with his wife in the Caribbean, hears mysterious, wordless singing on an uninhabited rock in the bay. Fishing in the vicinity, he catches...a mermaid. He takes her home and, though she has no spoken language, falls in love with her. Of course, his wife won't believe that thing in the bathtub is anything but a large fish. Predictable complications follow in rather tame fashion. Written by Rod Crawford <puffinus@u.washington.edu>

My Review:
Look at that tail and color!
Wow!
I usually never liked to watch black-and-white films, however, if it has a mermaid, I will definitely give it a try! This movie is so sweet, and Lenore the mermaid is absolutely charming and adorable when she is with Mr. Peabody. Even though Ann Blyth has no lines (shes a mermaid! She cant talk), she portrayed her emotions and movements as a mermaid so well.  I really loved the flow of the plot, and nothing was confusing or out of context. I have to say, for a movie that came out in the late 40's, the tail that Ann Blyth (Lenore The Mermaid) had to wear is beautiful! Here is a colored photo I found on Google. The tail is gorgeous and so life-like, very similar to the modern silicone tails of today (maybe this tail was silicone? Not sure!) As with most mermaid movies there are three key elements: The Mermaid, The Plot, and The Romance! Everything tied in so well together, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves black-and-white movies, and to anyone who loves mermaid movies! I give this movie (*****) 5 stars Enjoy!

Aquamarine Movie

  Rating: PG
Run Time:  110 minutes

Summary( Amazon.com)It's the end of summer and Claire (Roberts) and Hailey (JoJo) have a major problem. In just five days, Hailey's family is moving halfway around the world! These girls need a major miracle, and they get one in the form of Aquamarine, a beautiful mermaid who washes ashore in a late summer storm. Sweet but clueless to the ways of romance, she offers to grant the girls one wish if they help her find the boy of her dreams. But when they attempt to reel in the cute local lifeguard, the result is something none of them expect and they discover that sometimes what you wish for isn't what you really want after all!

My Review:
This movie came out when I was a little mergirl at about the age of 13. I wanted to be like Aqua, with her long beautiful hair that had hints of blue, and I constantly wore blue clothes and nails! Even as a young adult I still adore and treasure this movie as part of my mermaid collection. It is really a great movie to watch if you had a bad day, or if you seriously love mermaids like me! Aquamarine the mermaid really lightened my mood after watching this just because she is hysterical when she tries to make moves on Raymond the lifeguard. The end of the movie is very sweet and passionate, and even the romance between Aqua and Raymond made me cry a little. I really recommend this to women of all ages, since we can all relate to it, as well as people who love mermaid movies. I wish I had Aqua's tail too! It's so pretty, take a look!

I give this movie (*****) 5 stars.
PS: Aquamarine is based off the book Aquamarine by Alice Hoffman! Check out my review here! http://mermaidbooks.blogspot.com/2012/05/aquamarine-by-alice-hoffman.html
