Mr. Peabody and The Mermaid

Rating: NR (not rated)
* dont worry guys! This movie is very clean! *

Run Time: 89 min.
Released: 1948

Summary(imdb.com):
As told to a psychiatrist: Mr. Peabody, middle-aged Bostonian on vacation with his wife in the Caribbean, hears mysterious, wordless singing on an uninhabited rock in the bay. Fishing in the vicinity, he catches...a mermaid. He takes her home and, though she has no spoken language, falls in love with her. Of course, his wife won't believe that thing in the bathtub is anything but a large fish. Predictable complications follow in rather tame fashion. Written by Rod Crawford <puffinus@u.washington.edu>

My Review:
Look at that tail and color!
Wow!
I usually never liked to watch black-and-white films, however, if it has a mermaid, I will definitely give it a try! This movie is so sweet, and Lenore the mermaid is absolutely charming and adorable when she is with Mr. Peabody. Even though Ann Blyth has no lines (shes a mermaid! She cant talk), she portrayed her emotions and movements as a mermaid so well.  I really loved the flow of the plot, and nothing was confusing or out of context. I have to say, for a movie that came out in the late 40's, the tail that Ann Blyth (Lenore The Mermaid) had to wear is beautiful! Here is a colored photo I found on Google. The tail is gorgeous and so life-like, very similar to the modern silicone tails of today (maybe this tail was silicone? Not sure!) As with most mermaid movies there are three key elements: The Mermaid, The Plot, and The Romance! Everything tied in so well together, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves black-and-white movies, and to anyone who loves mermaid movies! I give this movie (*****) 5 stars Enjoy!
