Barbie Color Change Mermaid Bath Dolls
I really don't like the tails on these dolls. I have the orange one, and the tail feels very fragile! These dolls can be purchased at many different stores. They are also available online for a low price.

Mermaids 2003 Movie
Rating: NR ( I would rate this PG-13. Mild violence and some sexual references)
Runtime: 1 hour 24 minutes
Summary(IMDB.com):
Mermaid sisters hunt down their father's human killer... and deal with their own personal relationships with the humans.
My Review:
Beautiful tails and an amazing plot makes a perfect mermaid movie, and "Mermaids" has it all! I loved that as soon as the movie starts, the viewer feels anger towards the villains, who are responsible for killing the mer-sisters' father, and they blew up a coral reef! :(
Now let's get to the mermaids. Gorgeous!

Their tails were detailed, realistic, and beautifully colored. I also loved how each mermaid had her own personality. Venus is the siren/ seducer; Diana is my favorite because she's strong and carries a trident! June is quirky, smart and she can talk to sea creatures. I really loved the plot of the movie. There was never a dull moment, and the acting was great! This movie has become one of my favorites. I give this movie (*****) 5 stars.

Killer Mermaid The Movie
Rating: Okay, it says NR (not rated) on amazon, but I would rate this R!
Runtime: 1 hour 35 min.
Summary(amazon.com):
Two young women go on a Mediterranean vacation and uncover the watery lair of a killer mermaid hidden beneath an abandoned military fortress.
My Review:
Since Halloween is this month, I wanted to review another scary mermaid movie! When I first saw the trailer for this, I was intrigued. There aren't a lot of scary mermaid movies out there. Sadly, this movie was very predictable.
For the first half of the movie, the plot flat-lined, and I was waiting for something exciting to happen. This movie also follows the typical "you know who's going to survive last" plot line; usually the smartest person with the most skills.
However, despite the not-so-great writing, the mermaid was so cool! And beautiful :)
Take a look!
I don't recommend this movie. Instead, for a good Halloween/scary mermaid movie, I would watch She Creature, which I reviewed! I give this movie (**) 2 stars.

Mermaidia Movie
Run time: 1 hour 16 minutes
Rating: Very clean and G rated
Summary:
Journey to the magical waters of Mermaidia with Barbie as she plays Elina, a brave young fairy who travels under the waves to save her friend, the merman Prince Nalu.
My Review:
I have watched a few Barbie mermaid movies, and I was excited about this one in particular, especially since it looks so beautiful! If you did not see the first movie, titled Fairytopia, there is a brief recap at the beginning of this movie. What I loved about this movie was the bright fantasy setting. It reminded me of Neverland, and the fairies made me think of Tinkerbell and her friends! Nori the mermaid is my favorite character in this movie. Not only is she gorgeous, but she is also very fiery and feisty and distrusts outsiders.
Although he is not a major character, Bibble the puffball is very annoying, especially his gibberish language, so if you are watching with your little mergirl or boy, you might be a little irritated by his voice. I also wish that Barbie movies wouldn't use so much pink in their scenery! It actually hurt my eyes after a while. I also wish that they made a Prince Nalu doll! I give this movie (****) 4 stars.

The Secret Of Roan Inish Movie
Rating: PG(some nudity)
Run Time: 103 minutes
Summary(amazon.com):
Ten-year-old Fiona is sent to live with her grandparents in a small fishing village in Donegal, Ireland. She soon learns the local legend that an ancestor of hers married a selkie -- a seal who can turn into a human. Years earlier, her baby brother washed out to sea in a cradle, and some think that he is being raised by the seals. Then Fiona catches sight of a naked little boy on the abandoned isle of Roan Inish and takes a more active role in uncovering the mysteries which abound.
My Review:
Selkies are a creature that I can definitely identify with, and I was so excited to see this movie. As soon as it started, I was lured in by the lush and romantic rhythms of Celtic music and instruments and a beautiful opening scene of an Irish landscape and sea.
What I loved:
What I loved most about this movie is that is showcases the beauty and allure that seals naturally posses. They are graceful and just beautiful, especially their eyes! I really felt the age of the old family mystery and it made me want to continue watching.
What I Didn't Like:
Unfortunately, I found this movie to be a bit boring, especially in the middle towards the end. Nothing energetic really happens and the plot is very mellow. The little girl named Fiona also struck me as odd; the actress who played her barely had any emotions on her face the entire movie, and with so much going on, especially the existence of selkies, I wanted to see more excitement.
A movie that is similar to this one, titled, Ondine which is reviewed on this blog. Overall, I would give this movie (***) 3 stars.
